We took the dogs out for a nice stroll and saw a bunch of vehicles about a mile and a half north of the visitor's center. More than I have ever seen so I knew something was going on. As it turns out Dr. Donna Shaver and some folks from UTMSI were out releasing all of the formerly cold stunned and now healthy green turtles. The water was dirty out past the third bar and to tell you how good the fishing was there were absolutely no winter Texans fishing in front of the campground on a beautiful Saturday.

That's always cool to see. We were there too just didn't know about the release or probably would have gone. Hopefully they don't get stranded again

My neighbor rescued a turtle, during the cold spell, hopefully one of those was his. That's a really cool happening.

Your afternoon stroll was far more exciting that mine.

Was around Newport Pass Rd. and besides the dirty brown water, the high tide line was marked with lots of hyacinth, a scattering of sargassum, black mangrove seeds, and cast-off hardheads in various states of decay. From the sheer numbers, it looks like that is all being caught these days. But not likely recently, as I didn't see a soul with a line in the water.

Did find a few bird carcasses, so the raptors are active.
