|
|
It's been a while since I had the opportunity to help out on a HOW event, but a Friday text from Travis aka MT Stringer got me on board for a Saturday event held in epic perfect weather down at Bird Island Basin.
Kingz stopped by and we loaded a couple kayaks and we all met at What a Burger on the Island, got everyone signed in, and drove on down to the launch.
Getting everyone ready to launch on a perfect SOTEX winter morning, we were blessed to have perfect weather for the day, which was real nice after the last several weeks of miserable weather.
These trips are about way more than fishing, and their mission statement says it all. Heroes on the Water helps wounded warriors relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through kayak fishing and the outdoors. FREEDOM CAPTURED. Come check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heroes-on-the-Water-Coastal-Bend-Chapter/124470481083141?sk=info
Lots of happy smiles throughout the day as new kayakers quickly gained control of their kayak, as well as their destiny. George got into a few...
And learned the joy of the release...
Though fishing was slow, the group did manage to catch a few, though the memories will no doubt cause the fish to grow in size and significance.
Good meeting new folks, and sharing the day with many familiar local kayak community members that made the event possible and successful for the fairly new CC Chapter of HOW. Kingz, Dean, and Tombo are always good for a laugh... |

Between the tuna, yellowtail, and mahi I don't see how you have room for any of the local bay fish, John! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
