I was checking out some video's on youtube and was just curious if anyone has ever used one and what they think. I posted a link to one of the video's.

That would be so cool. I just wonder what the Park Rangers at PINS would say about that one.
Threat to National Security....Rocket propelled grenade ! The ATF would be called in

There's a reason why kayaks are the most used method of getting baits out... _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |

The biggest hangup I have with these things is, how do you keep the bait/leader/hook/weight from getting all tangled up upon launching?
I see one method is to freeze it all in a chunk of ice, but that measn a lot of advance prep and storage.
I always thought those water balloon slingshots had possibilities. |

Yep learn to long distance cast or get a kayak. But for pure redneck "hold my beer" entertainment those are fun to think about. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

one of my dreams has always been snow goose herding hang gliders powered by a small bore two stroke. Given the damage they are doing to crops you could probably get away with it. If you could figure out how to not get shot down.
man this weather sucks. |

| I have been researching the law on these "bait launchers". They are not considered a "gun" per se because they used compressed air, however, I have found one case where they classified it as a "gun" when they used "propane" as the gas. Will keep everyone in the loop as things develop. My goal is to understand the law and the regulations, then see if I can make one that is Federally Legal. As far as launching baits, google "spomb bomb" Interesting devise to contain biat without freezing it and you can see how you could take this concept to the4 next level of fresh bait delivery. |

I'm sure the Feds will call it an explosive, no matter the source of the explosion. I'm amazed the allow dry ice on PINS. The other problem is each state, county and beach seems to be under different jurisdiction. Combine that with law enforcement that seems to make up laws whenever it's convenient. As in, do you mind if I search your vehicle.....
You could get a legal opinion, but it won't mean anything on PINS.
I wonder if you could use dry ice and water to fire one ? _________________ I wouldn't take Tuesday off if you will show me a fish that bites on weekends! |

| We had one out a couple years back. Definitely need to figure out how to freeze bait, weight, leader into a projectile shape. Ours was potato, then spider weight, then bait. The weight was shredding both the potato and the bait. We did have a blast though, so to speak. |
