Anyone know of the legality fishing the spillway? I know on the other side of the fence it is illegal given the signs that are posted. But I have heard conflicting info regarding the side that one can kayak to or wade in. Any info would be appreciated. _________________ Fishing is my addiction |

It's technically illegal to park back there, but I have only seen the cops handing out tickets when there is A LOT of trucks trashing it up.
As far as fishing goes, it's all legal as long as your on the appropriate side of the fence.
Consistent fishing when the waters cold... been thinking about paddling back there myself for a while if you are unfamiliar I know it really well.

Sweet pics. Are those from a trip out there? Artificial or live shrimp? _________________ Fishing is my addiction |

yes me and brother used to live in a apartment on airline so we would go there almost every weekend
we usually caught on artificials/gulps. Bringing shrimp and a cast net is never a bad idea, usually alot of bait back there. |

| it' like alot of other places that are "grey areas". You can catch a personal record trout, a car tire, tetnis, get stuck in the salt flats to your truck door, get stuck thigh deep in the mud wading around the spillway, get confronted by meth heads or thugs, have your fishing of a lifetime interrupted by a 2lb wait landing right where you were seen catching fish, and the nasty foam is sure to ruin all tackle and gear brought along. Those are all of which I have experienced from fishing there. Oh and one time a friend caught a red on a mirrolure with a mirrolure stuck in its stomach that had a t shirt stuck to it. It's a real disgusting place! But it can be better than any place in the area at times. |

I don't think it's a grey area when talking about that backroad just before the ridge. There are two no trespassing private property signs at the entrance. When you get a ticket or the owner shows up and locks that gate you're going to be screwed. I've parked by the side of the road and dragged the kayak but that place is just too damn sketchy for my liking. Too many other great places to fish. _________________

it's a place where the worst fisherman can catch a state record trout, I've seen a guy at mud bridge throw out an old rotten piece of shrimp on the bottom, the weight was so big I don't know how it didn't go 3' deep in the mud, he probably had 14 orange beeds on the leader and about 3 yards of line remaining on his shakespeare combo when it landed. When I was about to launch my yak he cranked in a 33" trout and was disappointed it wasn't a red, and folded it up in a stryorfoam cooler and continued fishing for "real" fish |

The story u jst described I have seen with my own two eyes way too many times. If you don't know what your doin on the water than just do us all a favor and stay the hell home !!! A 33' trout thrown into a stryofoam cooler makes me wanna puke. That fish needs to either go up on the wall, or be released. _________________ Come out & gig some flounder with Straight to The Point Guide Service!! http://floundergiggin.com/ for more info

| So if you do not possess the latest and greatest rod and reel and your weight and leaders do not look beautiful and you do not have a tricked out yak and your cooler is not a yeti and the fish you caught is not going to be put on the front page of a magazine, you have no businesses fishing or even harvesting a fish. You better stay home. This superiority attitude makes me sick. |

Now days you don't need to waste those big trout by sending it to a taxidermy to mount. Just make a picture, measure the trout, both length and girth and have a fiberglass mount made.....hell then you don't have to waste the meat, you can eat it.
