Well, I was going stir crazy and just finishing being on call so of course an Artic Blast was moving down. Casey was interested in a trip also since we hadn't fished since Sharkathon so he was down to hit the beach and drink some beer around a fire. My wife decided it was to cold (she's the smart one ) so she was staying home. We have both acquired new trucks lately so we decided we would leave the old battle proven Trusty Rusty's at home and take the new trucks for their inaugural beach mission. I didn't realize how dependent I had become on the platform so I'll be welding up an aluminum setup for it shortly. Spent Friday night - Sunday back at Yarb.
We collected just a small amount of firewood to stay warm and I had also brought along a double burner propane heater and my portable homeless shelter for a wind block. Fishing was non existent back there as the fish were def in deeper water. Sunday Casey had to head home so I was going to leave also but I took a wrong turn leaving Yarb and ended up at the jetty for a solo mission . I wasn't done w the cold just yet.
Ended up not being a bad thing as I was able to land a 29.5" B Drum from the channel Monday morn as I packed up to fish my way off the beach before the projected 30+ winds Tuesday left me stranded down there w no beach. No Skunks here! The water had gone from the reported chocolate milk to more green than brown Monday so I had high hopes of landing a few as I worked my way off the beach. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and all I landed was Whiting from the surf.
I did have a visitor Sunday evening. Scared me a few times. He would disappear into the grass and I would think he was gone and then pop up really close to the truck. I was sitting by the back tire of the truck enjoying a cigar and a drink w the heater as the sun was going down just enjoying the fact that I'm blessed to be there and that thing came around the front of the truck and tried taking off with my bag of Shrimp I had sitting by the front tire. Scared the begeezus out of me. I thought I was goners for sure. I think I heard a woman scream...
See him peeking?
Anyway, it was a great time. I enjoyed being able to get out and be there, even if it was cold. Here's some parting pics.
Til next time, Cheers
See ya out there.

It worked great. Better than I hoped it would. A very simple setup and the tarps kept the heat circulating in the shelter. It made it bearable cuz walking to cast our fingers would be frozen so was nice to thaw them quick!.

Isn't that sorta redundant???
Thanks for the great report.
That took some serious determination to keep from being skunked, especially given the short window with the approaching weather. That was surely a "Manly Man's trip'.

Camping, fishing, bon fire, not to mention a survival shelter...good times. Great report and it looks like you had fun trip.
Makes me want to break out the tent cot and my neoprene waders and wait for a warmer weekend.
