Got a late start this morning about 9:30 due to dense fog that really came down hard about 8am and took a while to thin out. Tried south along ICW...saw lots of jumping mullet, but found no fish...glass calm. Went further south and into Nighthawk...water was fairly clear, still calm, lots of swirls...and finally a taker on a topwater...but it was a 14 inch trout to throw back. Then, the wind shifted to come out of north, clouds started coming down, so ran back north. Tried along Packery with some live finger mullet netted from there, and finally...big bite and long fight until I get in a 32 inch red....released to create more reds for all of us. Fishing buddy hooked into a good sized Pomp on a fishbite, but line broke right at the boat. Did land one smallish black drum also released. Then about 3:30 the fog started closing in again, but colder and damper, so headed home. Sorry no pics....forgot my camera.

My fishing buddy had a camera and took a picture...may post it up later. Yep, it did put up quite a fight....wore me out. The fish did recover nicely; after being held gently in the current for a short time, it recovered and took off. It took me a bit longer....my arms are still a bit sore...which tells you how long it has been since I had a long fish fight on my hands. Embarassed

Great report. Know that you properly released the fish, but many out there don't, must revive an exhausted fish before releasing. If not properly revived they will later die even if they do swim away.

Yep, a Red that size will give you a run for your money but it's a good feeling when it pulls out drag. I have caught lots of Reds that size with light tackle and it puts a hurt on your arm. Thanks for sharing

Calm Water

Fishing Buddy fighting that 32" Redfish

Landed that bad boy, holding on long enough for a picture, then released to make more memories.
