Hey y'all!

Winds were looking perfect for a bit of kayaking so I made some calls and met up with some friends to chase fish.

We launched a little late around 7:30 AM and the north wind was still blowing a bit.

Glenn (THATS RIGHT PROF. SALT WAS INSHORE!!!) was already waiting on the water. We paddled out to our spot and in 5 minutes Glenn hooks into this NICE 23-24" trout!

Here they are sharing their best jokes with each other!

This pic does no justice. Glenn dwarfs many grown men so a nice trout looks tiny in his hands.

I tied on a unfair Dinkum mullet 70 and started working it slow like a cold winter day. Water was a bit chilly. First cast out and BAM! Hooked up! After a good fight I finally get a solid redfish to the kayak!

The bite slows down considerably! I resort to trolling around like the last trip and pull up a few barely keeper trout.

Its feeling dead around 11 AM. Glenn already left to go cast-blast. Me and hunter decide to head over to some spoil islands. I had already been there in the morning and lost a monster sow trout on topwater. Water was nice and clear so I started drifting and tossing in 2 feet of water over grass. BAM! Red #2

The mullet was getting it done today.

A while passes and I find some deep channels with a shallow flat next to it. I cast on the flat and over the grass and BAM! Big trout comes up with my lure and shakes it immediately. I recast...twitch twitch and a small tug. I think its grass and twitch it again with a flounder comes up with its mouth open and I pull the hooks right out of it. I try the retrieve my lure to recast but a smaller 18" trout picks it up.

I get it unhooked and toss back out in the same area. BAM! My third redfish picks it up.

The bite died again so we called it a day after one last trout at 19"

It was a Tough Tough bite in our area but still a GREAT day on the water. I ended the day with a limit of redfish and 6 keeper trout.

Till Next Time
Life is good!

I think Prof. Salt was just hoping that trout would fight like a king...nice report AT. I went to Nueces that morning and got skunked on reds with the water being high but brought home trout and flounder for dinner. Keep it up Cool
