Thats right! I hit the sand and actually stayed there. BTB was tempting but its been way too long since Ive put a honest effort on the sand.

We arrived on pins around 6:30 to killer driving and beautiful water.

Went down to just before the 15mm and set out lines.

Jacks were running the third gut with birds following. We knew it would be a good day.

Started throwing a jig to catch my bait and the skippies were plenty hungry!

All of the skippies were small and thin ..PERFECT! I rigged up the heads and left em in the first gut.

Didnt take long to hit the first red.

We left bait soaking but no takers. Finally my buddy Eric or "Eric_csf" hooked up a skippy head and casted into the 2nd gut. Jacks came by and this unlucky little bugger jumped the gut and nailed his bait.

And yes Ive already given away the Jacks lol

Another hour goes by and we have 2 reds and a jack on the stringer. I head back out to cast for another skippie. A few casts in i get a hard thunk and a little drag. This sucker decided to nail my jig.

With a limit of reds to my name we hung out and tried to finish erics limit.

He managed another red, jack, and a monster bluefish.

The water was amazing. Although all the old debris that got picked up with high tides washed into the first gut and slowly moved down with the current. I had to walk down the sand and find another small patch that was free of dead weed.

Also watch for jellies! Ive been hit by manowar before no big deal, but something lit me up in the wade gut. It was pretty painful for several hours. I know from btb that the 3rd gut and beyond holds plenty of jellyfish right now. Be careful!

We called it a day and headed home with some good fish. Love the sand, dont know why I dont fish it more often.

Till Next Time
Life is good!

Really nice catches and great pictures. Now, I am really convinced to catch, rather than curse, the skipjacks and use them as cut bait.

The reds were around 24-25 inches..that blue was pretty damn big for Texas. Put on a good show throwing its head around as well.
