Wasssssup dudes?

Initially our plan was to boogie down the beach for a few days but after hearing recent reports of the conditions we decided to switch it up.

So what did we do? Cody and I hit the jetties, where we honestly catch most of our fish anyway. Get camp set up and toss out a live mullet and BAM, red #1

We ended up catching bull reds left and until the sun went down, where then the shark baits were rigged and deployed.

At around 9:30 my 50w started to roll and so I jumped up and tightened the drag for the circle hook. As soon as that fish made it's first run, my 80w with half a jack roast gets a nice little run and Cody grabbed it, set the hook, and was off to the races. We ended up landing a bull and a blacktip, both around 6'. We didn't waste time with measurements or too many pictures so these awesome predators could get back on with their lives.

It was pretty freaking cool, got a double before 10:00 pm.

From there we had random pickups and drops, missed hook-sets, and a massive mystery fish that pulled drag off an 80w like I've never seen before. Reeled in my leader and it was all tangled up with the coated cable frayed to crap.

Anyway, still caught 2 more little bulls after midnight.

Woke up to even calmer conditions, caught a few more reds, then packed up and got off the rocks before it got too hot.

Overall it was a great, short trip. Just what I needed after a summer full of sub-par fishing.

Your blue Yeti shirt took a serious hit. Now that looks like commitment to the sport.
