Hey all, my first post to the site although I've been a long time reader. I am from central Texas but I make it down to the coast any chance I can get. I know may people use the moon phases to determine when the fish feed. I've heard that fish will feed at night during a full moon and therefore won't bite much the next day. Any advice or comments are appreciated. Glad to be a member.

Alot of times fish dont eat a lure b/c they are hungry, its preditory instinct. Trout for example love croaker due to the fact that croaker eat eggs of trout and other fish. So mama trout is protecting her eggs. Its kill or your kids will be killed. Reds usually are always hungry from what I have seen all year. The solunar chart might say its a bad day to fish, but I promise you there are still fish eating. They get hungry just like we do regardless of the moon. Tides do play somewhat of a roll, I will say that. But weather can effect tides, so again the chart isnt always accurate or right in the present. Ask yourself this: Have you ever seen a fat guy pass up a good plate of BBQ?

Yes, fish will feed at night and a full moon will probably help them see the silhouette of a baitfish "or your top water" swimming overhead. You have better tide movements on a new or full moon as mentioned.

FD, you may want to read up some more about the trout eating croaker to protect their eggs theory. Trout do not lay eggs on a nest and protect them like good mother bass would do. They free spawn eggs across grass and the let mother nature do her thing.

The only better trout bait than a four inch croaker would be a four inch trout if it where legal.....a spook top water in a trout pattern is popular for a reason.

Good luck.

Solunar tables are the real deal and if you learn how to use them you will catch more fish.

Does that mean Im not going fishing if it says its a low activity day? No, im still going but I know when to focus my efforts, ie not be running around during the prime time, or I might extend the trip if it says the primetime is noon and I was planning on heading in at 11, or if I has going to head out at 5 for an evening trip but prime time is 4, well then I know I should leave earlier to be in position during prime time. Or if I thinking about not fishing but I see it's a high activity day I know it will pay off if I go.

The information is good it's how you use it that matters.
