Nobody knows ice chests like fisherman, whats your opinion as to the best ice chest for the money. I read about Yeti, but are they over priced?
Thanks for any info. |

Thanks for any info. | The one on the side of the road that needs new hinges! Seriously, I guess it depends on your pocketbook and what you are looking for. I still use old fashioned Igloo or Coleman. Coleman has got a lot better, the last few years! |

Yea, the coleman is the one I am looking at - the difference in the price between coleman and yeti, is an amount you can use to buy 6-8 more colemans. Mine have been damaged and down here, they are as likely to be stolen. Maybe when I move a little farther from the border, maybe I would like at the high price ones, but I have had colemans since I was camping with my folks.
Just went out and looked at the one I am still using - its the Coleman Xtreme 62 qt. I asked because I have been kind of out of the circuit for a few years and checking around again. |

Lots of debate and endless chatter about this subject on the "other" fishing forums. I am looking to replace my current Igloo with the Igloo Marine Ultra and it is available with snaps for a cushion which I need for an extra seat on my skiff. I like the high dollar, thickly insulated chests that I see a lot of but as mentioned previously they are a big target for thiefs and I can not get as much into a comparable quart size one as my Igloo because of the thickness of the sides. _________________ Mike |

I think it really depends on what you are using it for. If your going way down the beach for a few days, you may need a Yeti. For day fishing i think just about any good cooler will do. I thought this test was pretty good. Each one seems ot have features that someone may really need.

| Pelican males an ice chest that is far superior to yeti IMO. They have thicker insulation, a little cheaper, and come with a lifetime warranty from what I have seen. My FFL is a sealer for them and made me one hell of a deal. |

I have a Coleman xtreme marine that came with my current boat and it is the best ice chest I have, performs as well as my 2 Yeti's and is much lighter. I've priced them at WalMart and they're about 100 bucks, that's about the best value I've found.

If I had a Yeti or a high priced cooler and it happened to be stolen from my boat or truck I would be really sad. If someone steels my Igloo I'll just go buy a new one. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

That's my thought too. I will probably choose the xtreme from Coleman the brand I have known for most of my 60 odd years, and I like the handle, the wheels, maybe they will do something stronger about the drain plug. Best for the money is what I am looking for - best with out concern for money would probably be Yeti, but then the thought of a theft magnet comes back. Maybe when I move from Corpus. |

Brute boxes are somewhat less than the other high-end stuff made in FtWorth... no first-hand experience, tho. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

I have been a big fan of the Coleman Extremes for a long time. Best bang for the buck, hands down.
