Early Monday morning I took a drive down to Portland's Indian Point Park. I wanted to take my morning walk on the pier and check things out since I had the day off. I was still "Reelin'" from being offshore 5 days during the last week. The summer charter stuff has ended so I wanted to get back to my element, Portland area bay fishing. There was quite a crowd for a Monday morning at the pier. I guess everyone is trying to get down to the "Salt" before summer comes to an end. There was one group from San Antonio and another from Harlingen. Everyone I talked to said the night fishing was very slow. I did notice a couple waders headed out and I was almost jealous I did not have the time to give it a try this morning. I saw "Leutenant Dan" out on the "T" catch a nice speck just as I was arriving. Very shortly "Indian Point Bob" showed up as expected. He has been a regular for years, fishing every morning when the conditions are right. He quickly caught a throw-back and I also saw another regular catch a couple skipjacks. I had to get going since I have put my rod repair business one the back burners for awhile. It was another beautiful morning and I imagine the "Regulars" had their share of action for a couple hours! Smile

Actually gulfT ive been either very lucky....or indian point has been actually decent as of lately. Last week I went 3 nights in a row...I got 2 reds in the first 30min...and 2 trout another 30 min after....day 2 I hooked 3 trout within 2 hours....and day 3 another pair of reds.....only one keeper.

Its been pretty popping at IP....but like I said, could just be me....haha

Sounds like you are a lot better fisherman than our guest from San Antonio and the "Valley." Are you using bait or lures? Just curious on what I should bring if I get a chance to get out there. Thanks

I think my brother was there. That looks like him with the towel hanging from shorts.

It very well could be. We talked about the big reds that are getting ready to run at the Port A. Jetty's and a couple other hopeful spots. I enjoyed our conversation and it was definately a beautiful morning to be on the water. I think he mentioned that he was from Portland. Smile

Im sorry for the late response....the fish at indian point have currently been caught pretty shallow. people have had more success in the middle of the peer then the end. All my fish have been caught walking half way to the cleaning station off to the left to the next light pole. I will warn you though...the last couple days have been a bit slow, although I did hear a young man got a 29inch spec just the other day. As for bait I have been using dead shrimp that I let sit in a freezer for a week...lol I let it get a little stinky....haha
