| There's going to be a lot more of that with BTB gaining popularity. I would recommend those guys have some form of a hand held vhf radio with channel 16 just in case something crazy goes down. |

That kayak was full of water. Probably bad or unsecured hatch. (Could have been sabotage ) _________________

| Definitely would not have been my choice of days to take a BTB yak adventure. On the jetties I saw a bunch of boats decide it was a bad idea really quick. Glad the coasties were there to help! |

Peeps don't realize how quickly they can get dragged out offshore. I'm surprised a fishing boat didn't stop to help him though, out of Packery he had to have been passed by boats going in and out. Sharkathon last year I kayaked way the hell out to rescue a guy in a Malibu Stealth 9 that filled up with water. Watched through the binoculars for a minute as it was tough to see with the nekkid eye, he couldn't get in it because it would just roll over and he was getting swept North and out very quickly. I actually had to paddle my butt off to catch him. Great looking yak but all those hatches are just a liability in the surf, couple waves and you're swamped. _________________ JJ |
