I did that last year and got five or six pairs. They're pretty good glasses for the price.

Just curious because I don't know anything about these... but what makes them different from the $10 polarized glasses you can get (and take back repeatedly if necessary) at Academy?

some of the cheaper glasses have a polarized coating , my 130 dollar oakleys have made it through 1 year fishing and working on 5 months in Iraq , I hope these glasses hold up as well , I used to wear academy cheap ones but they scratched easy and broke easy , I feel for the price its worth it to "hopefully" get some decent specs on the face ...

the only difference I've found between these and the Renegades I used to wear from WalMart and Academy is that they don't scratch nearly as easy.

See topdog, I feel kinda the opposite. The vanquish are about the same. I dont see a good difference between them. They are good polarized glasses but they seem to be the same as the renegades. I sure as heck dont see paying $200+ for them when they arent free anymore. They cost the same now, as going to ACAdemy or Wally Mart and getting a pair of renegades. To each their own.

I get the cheap ones, as long as they are polarized. I look just as good in cheap glasses and the fish can't tell the difference Very Happy

It appears that some, but not all, of the glasses are polarized.

All glasses could be sold for about that much. A regular pair of prescription glasses, frames and lens, costs about $7 to make. And some sell for $200. I am about to get a pair of prescription, polarized transition lenses in a Columbia or RayBan frame for around $38. That is at Cost. From a eyecenter they are around $240+ . The markup is crazy. Thats why I am glad I have friend in the business.

When it comes to glasses for fishing, I believe this one place where you get what you pay for...

I do not scimp on my glasses. I have found that not only should glasses be polarized but they need the right color filtering too. Usually, the cheap glasses have cheap coatings and do little filtering. They just block light. The coatings wear off and scratch.

I wear Costa Del Mar (Fathom frames) with amber glass lenses that are green mirror coated. The amber lense color adds contrast to brown/green colors so I can see fish in the flats much easier. Even when they are hiding in the grass. The glass lense won't scratch which is real plus in a sandy environment and glass is easier to clean. And the green mirror coating reflects a lot of the bright light to protect the eyes.

Once you have worn a pair of good fishing glasses, you will see what you have been missing. If you fish the flats, you will make the investment.

I have had cheap ones and pricey ones, I always seem to screw up the good ones so I stick with the cheap ones. In the last 5 years I went through about 10 pairs of Oakleys, not all polarized.

I agree! I have some Costa Del Mar's from Academy. Stringer II's, 580 lenses, green Mirror, 229$ at Academy. I got these after using the 12$ Bemni Bays, Talk about night and day difference! Wow, I love these things!

I to am a Costa fan. In fact I am waiting for a pair to be returned to me. I sent back a pair I have had for 5yrs and they replaced them for the price of shipping. They will be back with me today according to the Fed Ex site. They are definately worth the money.
