Well folks. I am now a proud owner of my first kayak. Went to Dicks today cuz they had their yearly boat sale and found me a 12 ft eagle talon field and stream yellow kayak. Resembles the perception sport but a few lbs heavier. Came with seat, anchor, anchor line and rigging system. Has a very nice setup. So now for the big question. Does anyone know of any good places to yak and fish. Seen a lot of reports of brown tide down in the Laguna. Should I just look for spots in port A or rock port? Sure could use some help where to launch. Never kayaked before. Thanks in advance for any advice. _________________ wishin i was fishin! |

Great Yak....
I had one last year for a while....worked great.
For the easy spots for beginners....there are 2 that I can think of...one is the road that leads from Aransas Pass to the ferry....either side it good...but the Light House lakes side is great.
2nd is out by the Porno Flats....off the high between the Lexington ship and Portland....where the Yak Shack is. easy access and great fishing in that bay area. Talk to the guys there at the Yak Shack...they are filled with info and don't mind sharing.
Good luck..... _________________ (( Living the life I was born to live.....

If you have a smart phone, search kayak launch points in the play store, it's a free app and I think it's sponsored by ACK. I'm just using the free app but there is another one you have to pay for, I just want to see how this one works before I upgrade. It's so cool, it will locate your position and show you launch sites closest to you no matter where you are at using GPS location. There is feedback for each location and some even have pics. _________________ Shallow Sportn' it |
