I own a 05 Yamaha 250, 4 stroke. I ran through some mud and shell mix and it stopped up my pee hole. I cleaned it out and headed back in to head home. When I got home I removed the 2 covers on the lower unit and connected the water hose to flush any other mud/shell in there. The pee hole is fine and no signs of clogged hose, but on the lower unit the 2 covers that I removed would release water when I hooked up the hose before and now water just drips out of them. I don't want any mud/shell to stay clogged in there. Is there anything else I can do? Even if the pee hole is clear when running the water hose? Let me know what yall think. Thanks.

When was the last time you replaced the impeller? now might be as good of time as any to drop that LU and do some maintenance. i did mine because i did the same thing as you. it seemed ok but now im 100% sure its good. but i went a little extreme with mine, removed tstat and flushed it backwards(with the lower unit off, engine off) replaced tstat, new impeller/housing, took the pee hole line off and replaced it ect.. yeah im a bit ocd when it comes to maintenance with my stuff, i need the warm and fuzzy when i head offshore.

Well at least you got one decent reply to your issue, here goes the second. It's time to begin at the end and work your way back troubleshooting, cleaning, checking and rechecking everything really well. It is an excellent time to do a good fashioned take down and check the impeller as already advised. Don't forget to check the port you connect your hose to. Also, could be that any unseen shell that was left after your first maintenance run could have accumulated just enough so that the water is now dripping out at these two ports. Hope this has helped.

If you don't have one put yourself a water pressure gage on your boat and you will not have to worry about the pee hole being plugged.
Other than a tach and a gas gage the water pressure gage is the only other important gage you need.
