I'm old fashion and I only use Gudebrod. Tried some other brands once and ended with some serious epoxy issues. Found out later that the thread had silicon. Wreaked havoc on my finish. _________________ Cudakilla.com

Yea i usually only use gudebrod or prowrap . But that color was perfect for what i needed. I wasnt familiar with it. So as long as its nylon its okay without cp right?
Thanks! _________________ Three-fourths of the Earth |

No guaranties about that. Most threads are nylon or polyester. I don't normally use CP. I don't mind the bleed through and slight loss of color because I like the epoxy to really soak into the threads and into and under the guidefoots. Makes for a stronger wrap. That's just me. I like the less is more design style. Except for decorative wraps of course. _________________ Cudakilla.com

Aggie,
If your going to put it on a dark colored blank I would use a CP. You can also paint the section of blank white or double wrap it to really make the color "Pop".
I use a lot of Bullard thread, great stuff.. Been really hard to find Gudebrod since they went out of business... _________________ It's all about the family..... |

Oh man I had no idea Gudebrod was gone. Thank goodness I'm so anal about thread that I buy a bunch each time so have quite a lot left. What's a good compatible brand that you use? _________________ Cudakilla.com

Bullard has very good thread. Lays down really nice. For other colors and sizes they don't have I've been using Pro-Wrap. I like you did the same. When I heard that they were going out of business I bought what I could find...

| If you have any scrap pieces of rod or a dowel, you might want to wrap and epoxy a section on one of those pieces to see what it looks like beforehand. |

Yes gudebrod is gone...again I've been using pro wrap without any problems, might have to give Bullard a try. _________________ SOUTHERN CUSTOMS

Johnnyreb,
Quick question. My memory fail me. I have some Madiera and also some Robinson threads. Cannot remember which ones were silicon coated. The Pro Wrap thread is not right? I just ordered up some. Also...if say the threads do have silicon, do you use CP on them so you won't have problems with the epoxy finish when curing? _________________ Cudakilla.com
