Does anyone know where to go on the lake to possibly catch some catfish ? I know the lake is way way down, and I dont think the normal entry to the state park are close to the water ?? I have heard of a small marina / bait shop, but I dont know the area to well.

I haven't been up there in a while. If anything is open, I am sure it is Fiesta Marina. Good luck..........cC

Fiesta Marina is probably open, but so what? You'll have to hike to the water there as much as any other place. The State Park is open, as is Sunrise Beach last I knew. They are at the deep end of the lake. Most of the rest of the lake is nothing more than the old Nueces River channel.

I suggest you travel a bit more and go to Choke Canyon. It is down too, but there is a lot more water left there.

both the State Park and Sunrise beach are open (although all piers are closed/no water)....

catfishing was pretty steady at Sunrise beach a couple weeks back...not a whole lot of size to them, but steady action once we got them chummed up...

I live on the northeast side of the lake and it takes me eight
minutes by golf cart (from my pier) to get to the water! I haven't fished it lately as I have been fishing the coast. All that I can say is - cut shad will get ya plenty of blues from
2-6 lbs daily as long as there is wind to make the lake
choppy (Calm water and ya couldn't buy a bite!)

There is still a main lake on this side, just south of the Logarto Ferry, which reminds me of the Laguna: Ya can wade out a few hundred
yards and still be knee to waist deep too! Sad. About half+mile north is the river where there is basically no lake left.

Nonetheless, of the nearly 20,000 surface acres when full, the lake has dwindled to 6400 acres, concentrating the fish
into a smaller area. The fishing is great, but I fear continued drought and a hot summer we will start seeing
fish die-offs.
