Well it has been a long year and half as we spent the majority of 2012 in the house building mode. For a multitude of reasons, I had not got the kayak out much, and we had been cursed with a long stretch of windy weather that made for even less opportunities. Thought about fishing before going to bed, and decided no alarm, and if I woke up I would do a out the front door weather check. I checked...looked good, made a pot of coffee, and loaded up and was on the ferry at around 0630.

Got to the launch and it was breezier than I had anticipated, and despite some misgivings paddled off with the wind at my back. Seemed pretty skinny up shallow and thought maybe it would be a long drift trout kind of day.

So with that thought I began the drift on the drop...for nothing, throwing tops and plastics....uh oh...maybe should have stayed home???

Crossed back to the skinny stuff and started to see a few mud stirs, and nervous water...but no tails. Then the birds showed up and for the next couple hours it was pretty much on when you could get on the birds.

A few blowups and missed opportunities, finally hooked on solid and had it coming my way, with other fish in my view and already thinking about number two...bad idea as I broke off...seeya spook jr. Quickly tied another one on and strung a a 24" red! My hopes are now up!

Followed by number two about same size.

Catch a couple more in short order...smaller...so off they go to grow a couple inches. And nail number three...the way my fishing has been a limit of reds was a thing of distant memory Confused

So now it is time to have fun as these fish are sticking around, with the birds making it real easy to stay on them.

Say ahhhhh...

See ya later

The secret weapon Very Happy

Time to call it a morning, as the birds had flown the coop along with the fish.

Last shot before the paddle home

Really fun day, and even cooler as I had it all to my self... Twisted Evil
