I was checking out how they jig wahoo with irons and 'wahoo bombs' on the west coast. They basically throw lures while drifing. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried any of these specialized wahoo jigs like the raiders, or catchy lures down here?
Favorite method for fishing for wahoo on the coastal bend ???

we're a little late for the big wahoo bite when we can find them schooled up late Feb and get tons of shots but you'll catch them consitantly starting in June through October when offshore looking for bills.

I have never used metal jig here in the gulf for wahoo. I use them in Guaymas Mexico all the time for yellowtails or occasionally here for AJs, but not sure what others are doing I'm not as plugged in offshore as I used to be back in the 90's.

I like big rapallas or other high speed lures with flash and some side to side action mixed in a spread with regular trolling lures. If you have a heavy ball and or planner you can run these even deeper on a downrigger while trolling about 7kts thats killer on hoos.

you want to look for structure just like for dorado, honesty once I find a good weed line or some trash I'll troll it and if start to get bit by wahoo and want to put some in the box I'll switch to ballyhoo usually with a shinny island skirt to give color and flash but also can pull it about 6 to 7 kts which can help entice a wahoo bite vs 3 or 4 kts. another trick is to double hook rig your ballyhoos for just like kings wahoo will hit short.
