We left San Antonio around 4 am Saturday morning after work and meet up with a couple friends from work down in Rock Port. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and hit the S jetties in Port A around 10 ish. We fished live shrimp, squid, mullet, dead shrimp, cut bait, fish bites, and arties on top on bottom with no takers. We manged abt 6 sheepies with only 2 keepers 2 pomps and one smack the entire day. Their were two seperate groups of guys fishing down from us using sea lice and they were killing the bull reds one after the other. One group hauled in a red well over 45 inches and ledt it laying on the jetties while the other group had 1 black drum over 40 and two reds over 40 on a stringer.
GW was called out and they walked all the way down and found the over sized fish. Cotations were issued and the black drum was seized. It was a good feeling knowing a few poachers got thiers until we began to long walk back to the truck and began seeing multiple oversize red and black drum floating half alive. My guess is they were thrown back after being on a stringer and seeing the GW coming. What a waist.
Sunday we went off shore. Bite was slow didntanage much. Monday we slept in and hit Fish Pass jetties. A friends father hooked up on two small bonnet heads quick. Both under sized and released. Friend baggeda nice red right under 28 that was kept. One ray, one big whiting and a sheepy is wht we finished off with. All caught on live shrimp.
I will be back in a few weeks and hopefully with a bit more luck _________________ Wishin I was fishin. |

Sounds like you had a good time though. I usually look forward to the end of April. I always seemed to have a tough April offshore too. Hopefully you catch more fish next trip! _________________ Fish hard. You never know when you'll make you last trip south. |

| Glad to hear those guys got what they deserve. I've seen that multiple times though where people have let fish go when they see the Wardens coming |

I was down at the end of the jetties and we did not have our phones. We didnt call but there was an older gentleman throwing plastics and i believe he may have been the one that called. _________________ Wishin I was fishin. |
