|
|
I was fortunate to receive my first vice as a gift this year and thought I'd give it a try. Thanks to all the youtube videos there is a ton of instruction available, of which I have learned everything I know.
My very first fly is based on a winner of a pattern for rainbow trout - a marabou streamer using a Dai-Riki #075 hook size 10 with some red Schlappen tied in. Planning on downsizing to a size 12, add weight, and vary the colors to fish the Guadalupe.
My second fly is much more experimental. I have always thought of the seaducer as the perfect flats fly. Here is my attempt to make a variation of the pattern using Estaz opal pink in lieu of hackle. The hook is a trusty Mustad 34007 size 4 with medium, black bead chain on top. I think I made the tail feathers a bit too long, but I got them on the hook looking fairly straight. There are a couple of strands of pearl micro flashabou added as well.
So tell me what you think...and don't hold back with pointers, I'm trying to learn.
And everything for the seaducer came from Roys! |

| Some of my prettiest fly's look horrible in the water and some of my ugliest perform the best. I think they both look great but the fish are the one's that matter. Good luck and let us know how they do. |

I agree, the proof is in the pudding.
My most memorable experience in bad flies was having a zug bug start to unravel (freshwater stream). The more it unraveled the more fish it caught, as though it seemed. |

| nice ties.when i tie a seaducer i tie my feathers forward between the hook point and the eye covering alot of it to get a solid base on the hook since your going to palmer hackle or something synthetic over it.you might want to tie some without bb eyes also.when tying clousers and seaducers less is always more.goodluck |
