Went down to PINS today with my buddy George. Beach driving was good, and there where a lot of birds slamming the water. Made first stop north a 4WD Sign. Picked up some nice whiting on shrimp fish bite combo. South of the 4WD still found fish but also lots of grass. We went down to about the 17 and no change.
Back to the north. Got broke off once and then George hooks into this huge Jack. Thirty minutes later he drags him onto the beach. He used a trout rod and an old Ambassador 6000 reel
Estimating weight at around 40 pounds. No scale and no tape. |

Love fighting those big jacks in the surf. Great for people like me who can't afford to be offshore fighting those bigger species. _________________ wishin i was fishin! |

They are fun, and brutal on light tackle. Good luck to you fellows who want to dance with Mr Jack.
Buddy looked at the picture, and said it was probably about 22 lbs, that generally thet don't get much bigger tan that. Don't know about that! Like I said, in original post, no measuring tape and no scale. Still, I believe that the fish was every bit of 40 lbs. Guess that I could be getting weak in my old age. Doesn't really matter, it can be any weight you want it to be, as for me, it's still a 40 pounder plus. |

Jacks can reach sizes well over 22 lbs. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

I buy the 22lbs maybe 25. 40lbs would be hard to hold out like that. Then again we all know how good we are at estimating fish lengths and weights from photos _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
