.....for anyone who fishes there but has not been out yet.
The county is charging the same rate as last year $2.00 to walk on
and $2.00 per pole. The resteraunt and tackle shop are no longer there.
Need to bring your own eats and ICE with you. I havn't heard when
the resteraunt and tackle part will be open. Price wise I allways bring my own anyways. Just a heads up. |

I actually went by there today and spoke with the lady working. Here is the story she gave me.
1- they are going to build an expansion to handle all things pier related and sell bait and fishing stuff. They won't deal with the goings on with the restaurant business across the pier.
2 - the contract for the restaurant has been awarded and was supposed to be open by Memorial Day. They are already 3+ weeks behind due to insurance issues related to construction on the existing space. They are planning to gut it all and fully renovate.
... What I heard. |

From what you have seen so far is the county taking over the running of the pier going to make it better or worse for fishermen? |

CJ, you are excellent, at finding good sites. Thanks for the link.
BHP, hopefully the county being there will only mean more improvements are on the way" |

Can't tell yet, I would expect all those who had been banned from the pier for whatever reasons may be able to come back. Have only seen 2 different people working the pier. The first morning I went the guy working said that he wasn't open yet, but he would let me on if I came back to pay. Then he tells me that if I don't he'll come out and kick me off. That's where I pulled out my season pass that is still valid and said no you won't. Anyway , new faces to get used to and they'll figure us locals out. Don't think there will be that many issues. |
