sunday before last, after clients left the ranch, we decided to have sunday fun day before the next group arrived later that afternoon.

the guides dont always get to pull the trigger, but with my freezer empty, I decided to take a Nilgai cow.....at 648 yards. 1 shot, 1 kill with my SPS tactical in .308.

after all that fun stuff, monday morning brought out the rest of the critter, couple of pics from the lodge overlooking one of our fields via a spotting scope, enjoy!

Very nice. Thats one hell of a shot too. Might want to leave yourself out of the pic cause we don't want your mug scaring the kids, lol.

Now that is some fine eating. I know the rifle is way out in front of you but it look like it is pointing at your head. Haven't had Nilgi in a few years, that and Axis are my favorite.

That's awesome. Never shot over three hundred yards I imagine you practice a lot and pay attention to all the fine details( quality shells, wind etc..). Wish I had a place to learn art of long distance shooting. My land is a 7 hr drive, not to economical!

thanks guys...

Tex...yeah, really bad camera angle on that one, but we were kind of rushed as the next group of hunters had called and said they were about 10mins away. Laughing

croaker, yes, inbetween hunts, we shoot to kill time while we are out there (just about every weekend). we are setup to shoot out to 1000 yards on targets. we handload our own ammo, use range finders, spotting scopes and also ballistics calculators on our phones and hand written logs...the apps i use are Strelok and the other is Shooter, both on Droid OS....my ranch boss uses Let Fly Ballistics for IOS....pretty spot on once you enter all of your load data....including the MV for our rounds, which we choronographed.

the apps are great as they sync with the nearest weather station via GPS for all weather info and plugs it into the solution for you...we make adjustments while spotting as our lodge sits on top of a big hill....the wind blows 3 different ways till target impact...kind of crazy...

i'll see if i can find another pic from the lodge looking out into one of our fields to give you a better idea...

long range shooting is a lot of fun...i went from bowhuting (super close) to extreme distance.....love ever second of it, just wish i wouldn't blow through so much ammo! Laughing

The most impressive thing is that you must have had at least one 308 round available to fire! Laughing
