Planning on taking the family to camp at Choke Canyon over spring break. I can't pull my boat and camper so I was looking to do some catfishing with a guide. Anyone know a good, reputable guide on Choke?
Thanks!

Ray Austin or Wallace Gee. Never used either, though. I don't think Cliff Hill is guiding there anymore.

dont know of any guides but if u are gonna be around the cabins walk the bank and toss a few spinner baits and spinner beatles. Ive caught a quite few large mouth bass that way. But for the big cats id keep heading south. Probably need a boat for that though, Ive surveyed that lake and land around it a few times and ive seen some huge catfish in that area. Good luck

Very kind guy with very reasonable rates. He takes you on a pontoon so it is very good for the family.

Capt David of Whisker Rippin guide service is great! I have used him, have friends who used him. We caught 40+ keepers our last trip. 361-786-3139

I don't know his name, but there's a guide there that has a big red Kenner and I've seen him at the fish cleaning station cleaning big messes of fish numerous times.

There are gators all throughout Choke Canyon and Lake Corpus Christi. But you really don't have to worry about them. One of the tournaments I bowfished was at Choke Canyon and we had a 5ft gator just swimming in our lights staying infront of the bow of the boat and wouldn't leave until one of my buddies took his arrow off his bow and threw it at the gator. Thats when the gator swam off. I've seen one that would go 10-12ft about 100yrds from the boat ramp we launch from. We never have a problem with them, they stay away from the boats when they get up in size.
