My friend Steve left 30 shrimp from yesterday's trip so I decided to see what I can catch with them. Started at my usual spots and caught more on arties than live shrimp. After reading a PM I got decided to go to the ICW and use the live shrimp on the bottom to see what I can wrangle in. Halfway to the ICW my alarm goes off. Figured I sucked up some grass, I anchored up, raised the motor and proceeded to get a bunch of grass out of the thermostats. When I tried to trim my motor down it wouldn't budge. Trim motor was humming but nothing doing as far as motor going down.

Waved down a boat with 3 20 something guys in it and asked to be towed in toward the marina. They were hesitant but acquiesced upon my untying my drift anchor rope to add to my other rope to make it long enough to satisfy them; as well as not having to tow me further than Pita. At Pita they untie me and I figured that while drifting toward the bluff channel I might as well fish. With winds being pretty stout I threw over my drift sock. Well! I forgot I untied it. I just threw $30 overboard. Used trolling motor to get home.

Finally get to my channel and the grass at its mouth is so high, and water
so low, that my trolling motor gets bogged down in the grass and I had to pole out.

Got home, finally. Thank goodness for 10% IPA's to help one relax. I guess that's the last time I use live bait out of my boat.lol

If you have a flat blade screwdriver, you should be able to loosen the trim unit screw and lower the engine manually. Loosening the screw lessens the hydraulic pressure allowing the engine to go down.

As the saying goes "a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at the office" in this case I think the office day would've been better.....lol. Glad you made it in safely Zia.

Stan get well soon bud. That flu virus is vicious and spreading around base really fast!

If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all.

Some days are just like that. Thankful that you got home and will have better days in the future.

That's the problem. Motor is trimmed in the up position and now won't move in either direction.

spot on advice right here....this is the fix...

and in the future, don't tilt your motor up some much....also, may need a little grease on the pivot points...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Just got it working. Wasn't tilted too high, but luckily it was stuck in the up position. Needed hydraulic fluid. Learned where the manual release is. Was told if it is frozen in the down position you can't get fluid where it needs to be. Now I need the winds to settle some so that I can check it out.
