| I had the privilege of taking Dr. Robert Barton, (Buzz) fishing for a couple hours Sunday afternoon. I had taken him fishing once before, probably 8 years prior. I figured we would have the bay to ourselves since everyone would be watching football. We launched a little after 3:30 and headed out into the bay. We had two things in our favor, the tide was ripping in and I had not fished in almost a week. I looked and saw how clear the water was and decided I wanted to throw a 3" cocahoe minnow in purple with a white tail. I have found this color to work really well here in Nueces, when the water gets gin clear. On our first drift we caught four trout with the first three being keepers. With daylight quickly fading, we had time for a couple quick drifts. We ended up with eight total and the first three were the only keepers we caught. This is only the second time I have fished with Dr. Barton and I sure hope the third time comes quicker than the second one did. |
