The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation and its partner organizations have several volunteer activities coming up geared towards cleaning up our bays and waterways.
Oso Creek Park Mountain Bike and Nature Trails
Saturday, January 19th
There is a volunteer opportunity in a wildlife preserve area this Saturday (1/19) from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Volunteers will be picking up trash, trimming nature trails, and expanding a foot bridge. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Art Norman @ (361) 548-3899.
Park Info: This section of the park is over 100 acres of wildlife preserve and natural habitat along Oso Creek with miles of trails including dirt roads (double track), existing, semi-developed & proposed mountain bike & nature trails. Driving and/or dumping in park is strictly prohibited. Please call police at 911 to report any suspicious activity in progress, or 886-2600 for non-emergencies.
Directions: Take Cimarron from Airline past Yorktown. Take a left on Picante (last possible left) and then a right on Salsa. Take Salsa to the dead end at Oso Creek Park (Section 2).

Sorry nobody else made it today. Wish there'd been earlier notice of the event to forward to you.
Spent the morning mainly cutting back the brush along the road and bike paths in the park. The organizer and two of his regulars expanded a trail bridge and collected trash while I did that.
This is an adopt-a-park function repeated on the 3rd Saturday each month, so put it on your calendars if you want to help clean up part of the Oso Bay watershed along with a nature park and bike path system. It's the biggest park in the city and needs lots of care.
See you next month. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!
