The boy shot his first deer, 150 yard shot free hand (no bench rest)...I checked with a buddy of mine, but he processes his on his own but did give me some suggestions. What is a good place here in town to take the meat to get processed. Kinda new to the deer thing, I am more mad at the fish!!!!

I use A&A at the intersection of Tarleton and Greenwood...If you got it quartered already, de-bone it yourself and you'll save $8 a quarter instead of paying them...I usually get sausage made, been real happy with 'em for years, congrats to your lil guy...G

Everyone I know uses A&H on Leopard in the Tuluso / Calallen area and they are great people and do a great job. They are on the South Side of Leopard close to the old Frontier saloon.

A&A moved into A&H's old building on Greenwoodand started a processing business but they are not affiliated in any way.

Only places I know are here in SA so it won't help much but as kingz said if you don't minda very easy job and want to save money debone it. You will save on processing fees and extra weight that goes in the trash. It doesn't have to be pretty either when you debone it. Maybe the hind qtrs only if you plan on making jerky. Everything else start cutting away. Congrats on your sons deer! Never gets old and the memory will last forever

All three places mentioned I have heard good things about. I know Marty does a good job at "All Creatures Great and Small" as I have used his place for processing.

There is a place out side of Banquete call "Not For Sale" that does processing. He did our deer last year. Has anyone else used them? He did exactly what we asked and the meat was good.

Maybe check youtube on how to process. I learned a lot of knowledge from a few different guys. It made what I thought was going to be a pain in the butt, into something pretty simple. My buddy loaned me a sausage grinder and the task was done...

If you are talking about Jack Scarborough, the old man on the farm out there, he is the best. I know him, you walk in and see them processing alot of beef, everything is spotless clean and freezing cold in the cutting room. Tell him to make steak out of the backstrap and everything else get 60 % deer, 40 % beef hamburger. They put it in perfect 1 lb packages and it's unreal.

you'll want a few lbs coarse ground for venison chili...
I like venison for chili acct it's way leaner and makes a good pot of red...
be sure and pour at least one beer in that chili pot BTW...
