Thinking about heading offshore this Thursday, if we can get a weather window, the plan being to hit up some shrimp boats for black fin. Anybody have any idea where they are concentrated now? They were thick around Baker a few weeks ago, but I heard they have since moved South for the most part...

I mean the shimp boats, not the tuna, by the way. LOL.

A shimp packing house in AP told me that offshore shrimping would cease after Thanksgiving until the seas calm down. I guess winter seas are bad for shrimpers. I am only relating what I heard, but it was a first-hand conversation.

Shrimpers like to ride the northers out and return on southerly winds. Pretty much the same as commercial snapper fishing. Gets pretty rough sometimes, rough meaning, when the boat feels as if you are completely vertical on big waves. Big EYE opening waves. Shocked
