Hiya!,

well, I am looking for some new ideas on seasonings and/or marinades for grilling shark steaks. I have of a couple different methods, but wanted to try new ways. I appreciate any ideas.

Italian Dressing is tough to beat. Olive oil with lemon and garlic and pepper is not bad though really similar to Italian. Smile

What Tyler says. Shark really likes to drink in marinades.

I don't have much experience with the shark steaks but just about anything will be great after a dip in Italian dressing!

Man I don't know, David unless maybe some blackening seasoning and olive oil. Or try melting a little butter and let it stay soft, smear it over the shark steaks then coat with blackening season like a rub. I'd bet that would be great!

Soy sauce and rice wine vinegar, olive oil, diced serranos like you use to dip ahi into might be good for a short soak.

I do have some Old Bay Blackened Seasoning. I use it on my grilled shrimp. I give it a try with the shark steaks. I'd bet that will go well.

I ice bath the steaks I made the other night while I was getting the grill warmed up. It got rid any foul smell that can acompany shark meat. Cooked the steaks with garlic butter and lemon pepper. Came out quite well. Big thing is not to over cook shark meat or turns it to rubber.

Not a big shark eater - just don't catch them very much - but I bet fish tacos with grilled shark marinated/rubbed with achiote would be pretty good.
