I sneaked out and took my dad fishing for the first time in a year and half. He's too old for boats at almost 94 so I take him pomp fishing in the fall and winter and with the red tide last year we missed out.
Got to north of the sticks and in the water right around 4. Weed was coming in with the tide and the finger mullet disappeared. I didn't see any until after 6:30 and by that time we had caught about all of our 6 pompano, four hardheads and three smallish whiting. The weed increased as did the wave heights as the evening wore on but we had a great time.
Dad supervising
Dad with the smaller pompano hardhead combos he caught.
Time to go!
Our catch. Nothing huge probably one and a half to two and half pounds each but a nice outing.

| Way to spend a day on the water with your dad. I'm sure he appreciates your being a good son and taking time to fish with him. |

Thanks for the great report Tyler. Best times I have when I go fishing is when I take my dad with me. We always have a great time. He's a young pup at 75 though....lol. _________________ I like fishies |

Thanks guys! By the way the only rod I got those on was the Penn Prevail 12 foot conventional. It really slings it out there even with the levelwind on the 7000. You see why I have a levelwind, my dad is nearly blind so he needs it to reel the fish in. The hot fishbite color was orange. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I notice you have the white truck and didn't take out the jeep? Do you still have it, or did you just decide on a more comfy ride for you and your pops? _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Yes, it has more room. I have some racks now for the jeep but they are not installed yet as I need to get a front receiver hitch. But for room, it is hard to beat the suburban. I use the jeep more like a toy to pop down to packery or south of Bob Hall. Under whoop de do conditions on the beach the Jeep will knock your teeth out _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
