Is it ok to directly hook up your spotlight with battery clips to a 12 volt battery while it's wired with another battery in a 24 volt configuration for a trolling motor without disconnecting the wires that make it a 24 volt system. OK so if I didn't confuse you please respond.

If you have a 24 volt spotlight it is ok, but that is very unlikely that you do. If you have a 12 volt spotlight and hook it up to your 24 volt system it will most likely burn very bright for a little while then burn out.
If it is a 12 volt spotlight, I think you can find a reducer module that turns the 24 volt into 12 volt and you won't have a problem, might be cheaper to buy a 24 volt spot light though.

I'll be running from Port Mansfield to the landcut tonight to our cabin and I have the trolling motor batteries under the console. The cord isn't long enough to reach my starting battery in the back. Guess I'm being lazy and didn't want to remove the jumper wire from one battery. Also ran of time to put a new cigarette plug.

you could always check it with a volt meter on one battery to see if you are reading 11-13 volts. I have a feeling you will be reading 24.

| Electrically, hooking up a spotlight across 1 of the 2 12v batteries is fine, however, you'll be discharging that one faster than the other. If you charge the batteries separately this probably doesn't really matter much, especially if you don't keep the spotlight on continually. |

Agreed. The 24 volt setup will be series and you have to run through both batteries to get 24 volts. Hooking up to just one will only produce 12 volts. |
