Maybe trash fish is a little harsh but I got your attention so here is the real question ... and everyone will have varying opinions and that's great .. that is why this is a forum and not a matter of law!

What are your top 5 fish you consider GREAT table fare and your TOP 5 that you don't eat or won't eat.

thanks in advance for the input

Wife saw me cutting some Jack steaks for shark baits over the weekend, she says next time I get one fresh I have to cut her a steak to try. I told her as long as she doesn't try to feed it to me or "Little" she and the older boys can eat all they want. I am actually curious though if it can be prepped in such a manner to make it edible, sure is a lot of meat on those things and they are plentiful on the beach.

Flounder
Speckled trout
Croaker
Blackdrum
Redfish

Probably in that order

Mullet
Shark
Spanish Macks
Skipjack
Jack crevalle

I know some mullet eaters from the Florida panhandle might disagree with me, but then again they eat mullet, so who cares about their opinion...

Sheephead and Croaker in the Table Fare section ... interesting!
How and Where are there edible size Croakers and Sheephead?

Never have eaten Pompano .... these typically found in the surf in PINS?

Sheepshead are great just a pain to clean. Available around the jetties during the winter in big numbers.

Here's Austin Sheepshead for Seabass! Yeah baby!

Croaker are a lot like whiting and drum though hard to get the big ones.

Pompano are great though at times you can get them downtown and in the bay most are caught during the fall in the surf and at Bob Hall Piers etc.
