|
|
Sometimes it would be nice to have some shade when fishing the surf.
However, since I usually go solo, I don't want to have to struggle with setting up a canopy by myself.
Does anybody know if there is a portable canopy that is truly easy for one person to put up?
One that can simply be taken out of it's case and erected ready to go without having to set up the frame, drape and secure the canopy then finish by extending the frame the rest of the way out? _________________ "Money will buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail." - Kinky Friedman

I hammer a PVC rod holder in the sand and stick a beach umbrella in it.
enough for 2 chairs. and everything compacts down to about 8in dia. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

I got both an ez pop up sets up quick but you do need assistance. an Umbrella like one from acadamy will do the trick they are pretty big.
a pvc stuck in the sand with a rubber hammer stick in the the umbrella and secure with grey tape arounnd the umbrella pole and pvc pole together so the wind does'nt make it fly off.

| I got one from BassPro a couple of years ago. It is like 1/2 of a very small frame tent. It's called a "Rio Beach Portable Sun shelter". 2 people can fit in it in low folding lawn chairs. |

Hmm.
That is a consideration. Those pop ups ARE pretty heavy and bulky.

| i see those twisted mangled pop up frames left on the beach all the time. it appears they are good until the wind bends them to the point they won't fold back down and then it's ok to just leave them behind. |

There is one EZ up frame that I have been settIng up for the last six years by myself. Still using the same one. 10 x 10, but you have to look at the frame type. It has a central post with four radii going to the corners. I open it slightly from the outside then crawl under it and push up on the central post. Opens like a beach umbrella. Be sure to support the off legs while raising so you won't warp the frame. _________________

Like already mentioned a umbrella is way to go for yourself or just 2 ppl. I got a 9ft dia one at HEB with a wieghted stand. Holding up great so far. No more wrestling them junk pop up shade models. They just dont last on you. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

| I agree with Bluffer and kweber on the beach umbrella! I have a large one with wooden frame (less rust) and use the PVC pipe to secure it. Easy to set up and easy to take down! <*/)))>< |
