Hit the jetties about 4pm with some live shrimp and cut mullet on the surf side, but only managed some skips and small jacks. Switched to a super spook jr. and had same results. Me and my wife hung around for awhile watching the water and enjoying the day and waited till the sun set and then the reds showed up! Hook a big one on cut mullet and got him within literally a foot away from me on the rocks, then my poor wife... bless her heart tried landing the fish for me by pulling the leader up to pull the fish out and my knot gave way Crying or Very sad I tried to get him myself and slipped in on the lower rocks and busted up my knee pretty bad...ouch!... them jetties sure are killer...especially at night, anyhow 10 minutes later my wife hooks up successfully a nice 26 inch red.... yea payback lol. Ended the night with a nice red, trout, and mangrove. Can't wait to get back out there, till next time. Peace

after hurricane ike in 2008 that destroyed the pier in galveston we had no choice but to fish th jetties. we went to the one in freeport and the first 4 times it was fun but the lst time hubby slipped and dislocated his ring finger. his joint looked like it had a golf ball in it. rushed him to hospital in angleton and he had to cut his ring off as the nurses couldnt do it. then they couldnt fix his finger and we had to go to a specialist in houston. they did surgery. that little fishing trip was a 25 thousand dollar one so we dont jetty fish anymore. for young people who can move it great i am glad that you and your wife did catch some fish that night

Sorry to hear that, i always have safety on my mind when fishing any jetties. Just about every time I go I see someone fall, usually its tourist slipping on the sidewalk when big waves have been hitting it all day. Guess i was due for a fall, being it was dark and i was trying to land a nice sized red. I won't be trying that anytime soon Very Happy but i just love them jetties, the best fish I've ever caught has come from those rocks, just have to use better caution next time.

I'm 72 yrs old now and Ive only fished from the jetties a couple times and fell once around Galveston Area. SS had flat walkways and rails out for a ways. I don't if they go all the out. I love to fish from the sand.
