Got up early this morning, excited cause my ol lady wanted to go kayak the oso with me for the first time. Launched from a culdesac off in the neighbor hood, water looked great no wind, smooth as glass. Unloaded the two kayaks and grabbed the four "poles" from inside my truck. As soon as we got on the water about 2 or 3 gunshots ring out form the bluff side.Thought nothing of it, besides the fact that it sounded mabye 300-400 yards off. Ended up yakking 2-3 miles from the truck when my phone rang. My mother (who lives in the neighborhood close to where we launched from) called to say the cops were at the house looking for me.(assuming they looked up the reg, as it still goes to my parants house) Saying a lady watched me unload a shotgun from my truck, walk down to the water and discharge a couple of rounds. At this point im pretty pissed at the nerve of some people, as my truck has been parked there at least twice a week as i've been fishing this area hard for the past 3 weeks, way before dove season. Luckily i convinced and insured the cop i was not hunting(and in a kayak) as i was pretty far from my vehicle which he wanted me to meet him at. He threatned my mother that they were going to impound my truck based off the false report the lady had said.lol straight bs in this town.Ended up yakking back to the truck and fished within view of it, where of coures is where i stumbled upon a school of 6 or 7 reds tailing , and managed two 23's, enough for dinner. My girlfriend got skunked, spooked her only chance when her topwater got stuck in the marsh on the retrieval. Great thing is shes hooked on kayak fishing now, and couldnt stop talking about her big one that got away. And now understand's my excitment of sight casting tailing and backing redfish.
