Gotta start off like usual, I freakin love having weekdays off. Report is a little late but worth a write up I think. Saw a window open up for monday and tuesday so i decided to switch it up and hit the beach instead of terrorizing the trout out in the bay. Havent really done any serious shark fishin in awhile but the good ole tactics ive picked up over the the years continue to work good as ever. Didnt feel like flying solo this trip so i called up a friend who just moved back into town from college station. He's never been down the beach nor caught a shark so i figured maybe we'll get lucky and hook up on a couple and i'll let him reel one in, if he yaks out his own bait of course lol. Got to the beach monday around noon and wsa greeted by beautiful water and great drivin so I decided to run the beach and show him the scenery and the jetties. Never needed 4wd. After jacking around at the jetties for awhile I head back north to a spot that looked legit and the rest is history. Right off the bat while walking out to get mullet i was plesantly greeted by two 4ftish blacktips, good enough to give me the shaky leg but continue on. Got some fresh skipjacks, chunked them up and wsant long before we had two bt's on the sand about and hour before dark. call it an early night and cook up some grub. tuesday morning was one to remember. Long story short we got 2 more bt's and 5 bulls between 0845 and 1300 and lost many others due to jumps and broken lines, one mystery fish even took me down to one knee before pulling the hook.

All the sharks the second day were caught on fist size chunks of jack on 16/0 18/0 circles. One thing I learned over the years is that if you want to have a good time catching the average sized shark dont waste your time rigging baits, put a chunk and go...your hook up ratio will most likely increase also. all but one shark was caught on the 4wides so they put up a fun fight. On a side note i think i spoiled my friend with false hope as the first 3 sharks of his life were decent bulls lol. Had to constantly remind him this isnt an everyday occurance, you just get it right sometimes as you can go days without turning a click. Reds Jacks and bluefish were also everywhere. All in all we had a great time and if it wsant for work we probably could have put more on the sand. DAMN YOU WORK!

Slimfishin definitely knows what he is doin out there. His advice on not makin' complicated rigs is worth hell of alot more than 2 cents! I learned alot that day.
