Today was Mary's Bday and she wanted to go kayaking. We went to the sloughs by King ranch/CPL area. Took rods but didn't fish. First time there in yaks so I was mainly scouting. Lots of mullet and some red tails waving at us.

This is when we first entered.

Osprey checking us out. Love their whistle.

Bird watching.

Great pic by Mary catching this guy in flight.

I was cruising along watching reds go under my yak. When I looked up I had a cruising buddy.

Awesome! Me and my dad are new to kayaks as well. I don't even have one yet. But that should change by the end of the weekend

It's pretty cool back in there. Just make sure you take your rods down before going under the low bridge. Shocked I speak from experience. I saw reds tailing back there too when I went, but my rod din't have a tip.

Mary went under the bridge and I went thru the inlet to the side of it.

Thanks and I don't personally know Mary, but it seems like the ideal way to spend a birthday to me. And September seems like a great time to be born and celebrate your birthday.. Mine is in hotter 'n hell June..
