I have a Jack Russell puppy and he has been jumping on the pool float so I had an idea. Today for the first time i put my kayak in my pool and sure enough he jumped in. He is not yet very disciplined so fishing rods with lures is currently not an option but does anyone have a dog that kayaks with them? Also do they make life jackets for dogs. He fell in the pool and swam a couple feet without panicking but I want to be safe. Any thoughts or advice as I want to take him now on a short paddle on a calm day

I take my puppy everywhere. He loves wade fishing at packery but hasn't learned the kayak. They sell life vest for bird dogs at academy.

He runs an jumps on pool float and surfs around in my pool. He did great in kayak yesterday when I put it in my swimming pool. I just have a lot of training to do before I could feel safe with rod and lure with hooks

I learned a lesson the hard way. Don't fish with labs and a popping cork. I bet that guy will do fine, a full grown lab, not so much.

I must admit, I was kayaking around looking for snook and tarpon from a kayak in florida this past year, and my buddy had a small schnauzer in his yak he was trying to "yak train".

At the end of the day, soaking wet, exhausted, frustrated, and combing seagrass from his dogs coat, he decided that on kayak days he would find a dog sitter.

I hope you have much better luck than my amigo. I have faith. If kings can stalk reds with a dog on the bow, theres hope.

I have a JR also and could not imagine bringing that hyper thing along fishing. Incredibly smart dog and cool as could be but not much on sitting patiently. Good luck with yours.
