Reading fishing reports from yesterday,It fired me up to go give packery channel a shot.Water was a bit chopy on the surf side the tide had gone out and still moving outward.Finger mullet were heading out and i didnt find a problem snagging some up with my cast net. Fished the south jetty
with live finger mullet on the bottom egg sinker and surfwieght with no takers tried some artificials and nothing. Gathered my gear and headed back to my truck and ran into two guys that had just landed a spanish mackeral,But he even said it was nothing like yesterday.

Had about an hour to fish so decided on stoping by the packery bridge,Along with the finger mullet i had in my bait bucket.
Parked along side a man and a lady named linda and clod. They were trying to catch some some finger mullet but were having a hard time, The mullet were running the middle of the channel,Well i shared the mullet i had with them and in no time .And even on the first mullet linda used she landed a nice slot red going at 27 inches. Then clod landed a 27 and half inch red fish.
Well linda responded with another 26 inch redfish and my time ran out i had to leave this was in the middle of high noon , some other guys beside us were cathching drum .I gave them my mullet and and gathered my gear up with no fish but it was still good just getting out there with my dogand just interacting with others ,Heres a few pics of the day they were still bitting when i left .The cool front this week end is only gonna get better with those cool nights predicted.
Finger mullet run has started so ill see ya on the water. Cool

Im sure they had a great time fishing for there limits. Cool Water looked real good pelicans were having a feast inside the bowl.Im sure this after noon will be good to give it a try.Nice water conditions and plenty of bait is a good recipe.SEE YA
Cool

Mr. Dragon,

Good job man! I fraking LOVE helping out tourists on packery! It's a reminder of how lucky we are to know how to fish down here (I may not always know exactly where to fish though). The simplest thinks like using a baitcaster, castnet, or tying your own leaders. I remeber one April me and the RAT were catching Sheepshead out there. This country fried little toeheaded eight year old redneck kid was feraking out! he saw us acatch a few and his parents couldn't get him to leave. I had to let him catch one. It was very cool. Then him parents drug him away. I like to think I staretd a problem for them Very Happy

IMS,

Are you saying that you're going to go fish the jetty?!?! I mean drive down Laguna, onto the Island, park by the jetty and fish?
