Just go word from a friend of mine that the Oso Pier at the end of Ennis Joslin is now back open. Gonna have to give it a try. He told me that it was $5 a person and $2 a rod. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bait). _________________ Where's the March Hare???.. |

Wasn't there a pier nearby with possibly a club membership way back when...in the early 70's. The Beach Club maybe? My dad use to take us fishing there at night. Lots of trout. Great memories. _________________

Last time I drove by there, Tons of wood had been replaced. The whole thing almost looked new. I used to go around 10 years ago, caught some good drum. _________________ I like fishies |

2 years ago or so, I talked to the guy that bought the building in front of the pier and he mentioned that it was part of his plan to restore the pier. The BBQ place he opened has since gone under, and it is a shame that he didn't keep some of the old photos that were on the walls of the old building.
There was the "History of Drum" in CC Bay!! There were also a number of really historic pictures of when parts of the bay froze in '89.
At least the pier is open again, although the new color scheme of the building isn't exactly screaming "Hey Guys, come fish here"!!! |

| Great memories. My dad would drop me off at night and I would go from light to light throwing speck rigs or jigs for trout. Saw many sunrises there. I would wait for whoever was was working to go count out live shrimp for a customer and then deposit; I think it was 6 quarters, into the cigarette machine for a precious pack of Camels. I believe I still remember the phone number from calling to see if they had live shrimp. Dose anyone remember the Oso Pier Drum Fishing Club? |

| The real owner is actually an older fellow, who had tried to partner with the bbq guy, but the bbq guy didn't come up with any money and the owner booted him out. I know b/c I met the owner the other day, as a result of his listing the property as for sale on Craigslist. He's looking for a partner, or possibly to sell the pier / baithouse. The land is owned by the State / GLO. Until he sells or finds a partner, he's got some guy there collecting pier fees and generally working on upkeeping the place. He's hoping to sell the pier / baithouse for $400,000. |

No. That place (County Line) is just west of the pier (and is still boarded up for tax evasion). One of my first dates was at the Ship Ahoy!!! Now that's some old memories........ Fake license, really bad rum..... WOW!!! |

| Oh the great memories. I remember a storm seperating the "T" from the rest of the pier. My buddy and I wanted to fish that area so we climbed down and swam over with our gear. We slayed them till the pier guy came and kicked us off. My mother wondered why we were wading next to the pier when she picked us up. We didnt tell her. |

| On the way out to the end that was one of the longest piers I've ever been on especially with a ice chest full of beer.. one the way back it was one of the longest and narrowest piers I've ever been on. |

| Spent many days and nights there. We used to have some good crab hauls from there Mom dropped us off and told Isreal to give us anything we needed and she would square up with him when she picked us up. I even had a couple of pictures on the wall. May have to take my son there for old time sake! |

| About a couple years ago when the BBQ thing was remodeling, I was fishing on the side of the pier on the rocks because it was a beautiful day. I was throwing lures and some guy drives up and opens the gate and offers me onto the pier. He asked me if I ever fished the pier before. I told him it used to be a great spot for drum and trout but it had been years since I had caught anything there or since its been open for that matter. Then I remembered my first fishing trip was to the Oso Pier. My dad took me fishing there when I was 7yrs old. He took me fishing with my new zebco combo I just got for my birthday. I remember we caught a bunch of trout and I was hooked on fishing. I spent many nights there as a teenager and even took my son when he was young. So thirty years later, I was standing in the same spot and it seemed like time just flew by. Best of luck for the new owners. I'm sure I'll stop by and wet a line, fish or no fish. |
