Fished Deadmans today with a few nice redfish. Caught quite a few undersized trout in the mix but no keepers. Had a monster trout come back for seconds slamming DOA shrimp and swam right to the boat. Trout threw the hook during the fight. She may have gone 30 inches plus. If anyone finds my dip net please let me know. It jumped out of the boat without my permission. It's silver aluminum with green netting. There will be a copper clip and a brown stringer float on it. As far as Packery, saw the drum school this morning a couple of times but no bites. Fish were scaredish. Probably due to no wind and very calm. Did manage a bunch of redfish working bait at the edge of the channel. Got really hot later on and decided to anchor up under the Humble bridge. Fish Bites and shrimp resulted in a bunch of ribbon fish. It was so crazy to see the ribbon fish jumping out of the water trying to get the bait. Hang the bait off the water 2 - 3 inches and they would grab it. Got a bunch for the next surf trip. My wife looked over at me and in shock as I got nailed in the thumb by a ribbon fish. Blood all in the flats boat but we kept fishing. No emergency room needed but it's very tender.

Them dang ribbons were harrassing me and my gig light last night. Freaky looking things! Make sure you hit it with some peroxide!
