good one - congrats!!. look at getting it printed by Dinah Bowman in Portland, Tx. It's cheaper than a mount and your wife will like it better. You can even do both if you want.

Good fish, the size of the mouth on big Trout always fascinates me, starts to look like a Bass! You see why no bait is too big for one of these mamas.

Tyler,

For the record, Robert is a buddy of mine and we, including Lee Roy Navarro, were out "buddy" fishing when he caught it yesterday. Robert is a great fisherman and deserves ALL of the credit. I was just glad to be a part of it and watch him catch this pig.

That thing is huge. Congrats to that guy. Man I wish I could snag a 30" trout. I have caught big reds and flounder but never a big trout.

Got to be careful, once you catch a few like that it becomes an obsession, kind of like taking a huge buck. I spent an entire spring and summer fishing down south with the only objective being big Trout. That time on the flats taught me more about the science of fishing than anything else I've done. I would relate a big Trout to a Boone and Crocket buck or an ole Boss Gobbler, they just don't come easy and you have to completely alter your tactics to be successful consistently. Everyone gets lucky once in awhile and you'll pull one of these out of a school of smaller fish but it's the exception versus the rule. This guy obviously knows his stuff to be catching multiple fish of this quality.

During the heavy freezes in the past that resulted in massive fish kills, trout up to and over 40 inches were found dead. They get pretty dang big, just not caught at that size.

OR just string out a few hundred feet of square hook material way back in alazan where the trout grow so big they have wiskers.but we all know you cant do that anymore. but you are right ,let mother nature throw a real freeze on the water and you will see record trout floating everywhere.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s when we had hard freezes the canals at Padre Island were littered with Trophy Trout. I saw some guys with Mirror Lures one day foul hooking these monster Trout with a guy up on a balcony giving direction as to where the fish were. The fish were so lethargic they could not avoid getting hooked. Poor sportsmenship and something I would not participate in but you should have seen the size of some of these Trout. We used to catch alot of good fish (by legal means) during these harsh weather times out of there.
