Any one now what the weed in the surf is like?

i was on pins monday for a little bit and tuesday for a while and the weed wasnt too bad. spent a little time monday around the seven or so throwing a spoon to a bunch of ladyfish that were chasing bait with the birds.

tuesday went further down (20ish) and caught bonnethead and a bunch of whiting. the weed seemed to pick up with the wind on tuesday after noon.

driving was outstanding...so good i saw more than one person pulled over by the rangers.

Was at the PINS for about 15 minutes attempting to catch mullet in the surf. No mullet at all. However, no new weed either!!! I only went about 100 yards off pavement.

We did Packery at the little bridge yesterday morning. Used live mullet and dead shrimp. One eighteen inch snook. Some weed rolling on the bottem, caught some on a sliding weight , with dead shrimp or live mullet. Top water with a bobber, split shot and live mullet, very little weed. You could see small bunches of weed coming in with the incoming flow from the Gulf. Better then last week. just good to be out there, fishing.

I went south of Bob Hall and fished along the way on topwaters. Weed was there but fishable. It would have been a pain using a long rod or soft plastics. There were lots of horse mullet and a few smaller mullet and baitfish. I got skunked but saw a slot red hauled in with bait.
