I was wading in boiling hot shallow flats yesterday when i came across this little bugger...what is it?

I would say a shad but it doesn't have the black spot like a normal shad???

Thats a size 13 boot, thought it was big for a shad i dont see much of them around

menhaden dont have scales like that...not sure what it is

Looks like a shad to me. Although 13 inches would be the biggest I've heard of I've seen some around 6 -8 inches in freshwater.

Thats close jebsays but i dont think its exactly right...face is rounded on the one i found and it wasnt degraded aside from the missing eye
