We left Schertz at 3am and got to Aransas Pass about 6am.Decided to go by Tarpon Shores for bait because I called friday evening and they said they just got a ton of croaker in. Well,at 6:01 they only had two dozen left. The bait shop service was super slow and the guy had his 13-14 yr old daughter running the register. Felt kind of bad for as the line was stacking quickly. Ended up just getting some shrimp and the two dozen croaker. Headed across the street to set up(6 people) our spot. My dad and I wanted to get on the water as quickly supple bum possible as we already wasted 20 minutes at the bait shop. Jumped in the yaks and paddled across the chanel. Third cast with a pop-r(bone color) produced a nice red. Lost three more reds on top water before we got out of the yaks and fished the T in the chanel. There was a huge school of black drum that hung out here all day. I guess I got lucky(caught 3) because everyone was casting for them but I only saw one person catch one.Caught a flounder, and two ladyfish. Switched over to a gold spoon and lost two fish not sure what they were.Headed further down the "cut"?(first time here) and caught a nice trout. Went through a very small pass to the right and came out into some beautiful flats. Wind was at our back and still light but enough to push us slowly across the flat. Saw about twenty red(all singles spread out) spooked most of them but caught two. Nothing huge,1 keeper,1 border line. This ws my first time here and I really liked this area and will be back .
