HEB had a bit left over from the weekend. I was going to cook steak / ribs on the BBQ until I saw crawfish today was 99 cents a pound. Having crawfish tonight instead. Hey guys they had like 80 pounds left and only at 99 cents a pound. Better hurry, it may be the last of the crawfish season and can't beat the price.

I got some from the HEB on the bluff a few weeks ago and was really impressed. Out of the whole 30lb sack there were only maybe 20 that didn't curl up in the pot.

We had a big crawfish boil. Bought 30 lbs of crawfish, sausage, new potatoes and corn. Took a while to cook all the crawfish and it is very important to purge the crawfish in a saltwater bath. Ended up with 5 lbs of tail meat for gumbo after we fed us and envited two neighbors. Good evening. Had some dead, saving them too see if redfish or drum will like them. Good end to a day. Hand are soar from peeling crawfish. Time to continue cleanup and wheres my beer?

A crawfish has to curl up after being cooked or what? Does that mean it is a bad one?

Do you have to cook them alive?

Never heard of bad crawfish curling up. Bad bad ones are dead, pale and musty tasting. If you have any dead don't put them in the boiling pot, you will know the difference once you start peeling and eating. I won't buy dead crawfish, only live for crawfish boils. Take your crawfish and purge them in water wil regular salt. You will see the water turning dark and muddy. Just finished the cleanup and nice end to a good evening.
