| headed down in mid June to do some fishing. On the way to the ferry I always see people fishing on both sides of the road. Is there good fishing in this area? I know on the right hand side(on way to ferry) there is a quick drop off and boats will run through that deeper water. I wanted to fish this area but I know the current can move pretty fast through there. Looking for good bank fishing choices. My father and I will have kayaks but the other guys going won't. We planned on fishing, grilling, drinking and just relaxing. Any suggestions? We were gonna do the guide thing but they are all booked that Saturday. |

ummm. im not sure on where you could do that off the bank right near those ferrys. especially the drinking part but i do know there are certian times of year when there are some huge reds around the ferry landings. _________________ Chris Gonzales |

I have been there, and its one of my spots for kicking back and long-lining when I don't feel like wading. I've seen lots of kayakers around there, and there are lots of channels and little islands. Haven't been there since last year though, since its a bit of a drive from CC. Try to hit it on an incoming tide, otherwise you're liable to end up with skunks like me. _________________ Fortune favors the brave... |

| I may be a little turned around, but I think you are thinking of the Lighthouse Lakes area? If so, yes the fishing is very good there. You can wade that shoreline and if you and your father have kayaks you can paddle the "lakes" and channels and that whole area and fish (get lost) for hours. I like kayaking that area a lot because it has lots of sheltered coves, tons of grass beds, small pockets of oyster and shell, and it gets much more tidal flow than similar areas behind mustang island. |

Yes there is good fishing on the south side of the causeway there, (on the right if you are going to Port A) There is one little spot we called "Shawne's Point" after my daughter caught a bunch of undersized reds there on shrimp when we were on vacation and the surf was brown. It think it is right on the right after you cross the first bridge. There is an island and a tiny spot that flows between the island and the mainland. We parked there and with the tide running out had a ball catching lots of undersized fish. Brown and Root Flat, Steadman's are also over there. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

you can pull off to the right side and camp out, fish, bbq whatever you want, don't expect to catch a whole lot, though unless you get in the yak. I wouldn't worry about current too much.
If you turn left after the last bridge before the ferry you can park and fish on the shrimp boat channel. I've caught a few trout there and got spooled by something huge, it's a straight shot to the jetties, so no telling what you might catch. |

Let's see, I caught the largest drum I've ever caught on the Conn Brown side of the causeway and had a blast with small to medium trout and reds on the other side.
Nah! You don't want to waste your time around there |

| On right side, first place you can pull over after the bridge past fin and feather bait stand is real good at times in sand pockets where the flats and drop off meet. Best if you kayak across boat channel.. There is a shell reef and between road and reef I have had limits a few times on trout and talked to a couple people who do great on reds there. |
